Alienware was doomed to fail due to the amount of nepotism in the company. Most of the employees were relatives of senior management. Mike Dell had no idea what he was getting into. The cornball Senior Vice President Frank Azor is just a high school graduate with a string of train-wreck projects to his name. Once in an executive meeting, then-CEO Nelson Gonzalez ripped him to shreds because he had failed to make the Predator chassis more modular-friendly. The VP of Manufacturing Richard Cary found a way to become the supervisor of a young new female employee and worked on her until he got her... and then he left his wife and two children. Before you hire an ex-Alienware sloth, make sure you dig deep during the interview process. You will discover their resumes are lies. They really cannot deliver the goods.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Hewlett-Packard overtook Dell as the leading PC maker in the US for the first three months of 2009, according to two market trackers. Hewlett-Packard moved ahead of Dell because of surprisingly strong sales to US consumers and Dell's inability to take advantage of the opportunities, according to IDC. Gartner reported a similar change on the US leader board after stronger-than-expected sales. Worldwide, PC shipments fell 7.1 percent, according to IDC, with Gartner suggesting the decline was less severe.

It is inevitable that alienware will disappear, over priced product with awful customer services and customer sytems. My experience of their products is extremely poor and my opinion of their support doubly so.

With the rise of DRM and the awful microsoft OS incompatibilities with high end components in Vista, the gaming PC is almost dead,
next time I need a system it will be a macbook and a console.

I understand manufacturing for EMEA will transfer to the Dell facility at Lodz, Poland. This surely devalues the Alienware cachet to my mind. Who are alternative vendors for hi-spec machines?

They're also firing people from the call center located in CR. They are closing down the Sales division and the backup area set for EMEA support.
